Hideki Matsuyama closed his 2025 Masters campaign with his best score of six-under-par 66 to end his week at Augusta National in tied-21st place on Sunday.
The 33-year-old compiled rounds of 73, 68, 79, and 66 for a four-day total of three-under-par 286 – eight shots back of Rory McIlroy, who defeated Justin Rose in the playoff to win the tournament - four years after Matsuyama had achieved a similar feat.
After disappointing 79 in the third round, Matsuyama reignited his charge by storming back with four birdies in his front nine before reeling in three more on holes 14, 15 and 17 before signing off with his only blemish of the day on 18.
"I really needed that strong start today. After yesterday's disappointment, the pars on the first hole and birdie on the third settled me. It has been a tough four days if I'm honest, and results haven't come since my win here. So, I just have to work on finding that consistency in my game again," said Matsuyama.
